Day 11: for Adaze

This story is from the 2009 United States Human Trafficking In Person Report.  Adaze's story is the first of many given in rapid-fire succession.  The stories are easy to scroll through and gloss over due to their short length and list-like style, so I am going to post them here one at a time.

It's one thing to be threatened; it's another thing when someone threatens your family.  Adaze had a choice: allow her purity to be robbed, or lose her purity anyway and simultaneously shame her family.  I can't even begin to fathom the stress of such a situation.  I don't even have words to type in response.

Azerbaijan
Azade, 22, left rural Azerbaijan to work at a massage parlor in Baku. But the massage parlor was a cover for a brothel. Soon after she arrived, a client who worked for the brothel owner forced himself on Azade and threatened to show a videotape of the assault to her father unless she engaged in prostitution at the brothel. Fearing the social stigma attached to rape and the consequences of bringing shame to her family, Azade submitted to several months of forced prostitution before she escaped with the help of an anti-trafficking NGO.

Adaze, God bless you greatly for your sacrifice.

4.27 miles for Adaze

Praise God for leading me through the first 50 mile checkpoint.
