Day 22: for Anuradha

Two days ago, I was in the ER with severe abdominal pain and nausea.  They sent me home once they ruled out appendicitis and assured me it'd subside soon, and it has.  The morning after I got home, I decided to run anyways because these girls don't get to stop if they aren't feeling well.  My first two miles weren't bad, but my last two were pure hell.  The pain and nausea came back ten times over.  I was running in tears, and I honestly thought my body was going to just stop.  I pushed through the pain, thinking of what these girls go through, asking myself, "Would you rather work in spite of your pain, or get beaten?"  When I finished my run, I broke down into tears, as my immense pain is not even a taste of the daily suffering of a victim of human trafficking.  I cried for the desperation, the hopelessness, the lack of sleep and health, the never knowing when it would be over.

I forgot about hope.  I forgot that the Lord has these things in his hands.  But when I read Anuradha's story, I was reminded that Jesus came to take those burdens, to bring home and healing, and to seek and save that which was lost.  Click here for Anuradha's story.

  1. Please note: running was not dangerous to my health, simply irritating. I did not put my long-term health at risk by choosing to run.
