Day 27: for Jaycee

Just about everyone has heard the story of Jaycee Lee Dugard, the 11 year old from California who was abducted on her way to school and held captive in the backyard of a registered sex offender for 18 years.  She and her two kids were rescued two years ago, and by God's grace, Jaycee was restored to her family.  Click here for Jaycee's story.

I watched an interview with her on TV and I couldn't help but shed tears she told her story.  Some memorable things she said:
"I remember telling him, 'My mom doesn't have a lot of money and she can't pay the ransom.'  I didn't know why else men kidnapped children.  I found out why soon."
"I gave birth in the shed in the backyard twice."
~"Your skin looks so young and beautiful."
~"That's what happens after 18 years of no sunlight."
"My best friend was a spider that lived in the corner of the shed.  I named her Bianca."

What happened to Jaycee was so upsetting, it seemed unheard of, but the sad reality is that it happens every day.  This is a classic example of human trafficking.  I praise God for saving Jaycee.  If we work together, we can beat human trafficking by God's grace.

  1. Stephanie, you can consider me a fan. I am always impressed when someone takes it upon themselves to fight for a noble cause such as this. Keep up the fight and know that even people that don't know you are rooting you on. I agree...we can beat human trafficking by God's grace. May God continue to bless you and your efforts, Jacob
